The Secretary-General met today with Foreign Minister Jean-Marie Ehouzou of the Republic of Benin, on the margins of the General Assembly debate. Their discussion focused on the need to ensure the holding of consensual, credible and transparent elections in the country in 2011. The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed the need to take concrete measures aimed at accelerating progress in attaining the MDGs in Benin and the need for a unified African position on climate change.
