Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General - on the flooding and landslide in Kyushu, Japan

The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the reported death of at least 40 people following flooding and a large landslide today in Kumamoto, Kyushu region, Japan. The Secretary-General expresses his deep condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and Government of Japan.
