The Secretary-General is deeply concerned about the continuing and intensifying violence in Nicaragua. He deplores the loss of life in the protests and the attack against Catholic Church mediators in the National Dialogue.

The Secretary-General recognizes the important mediation role of the Nicaraguan Catholic Bishops Conference. He urges all parties to respect the role of the mediators, to refrain from the use of violence, and to fully commit to participating in the National Dialogue in order to de-escalate violence and find a peaceful solution to the current crisis.

Declaración atribuible al Portavoz del Secretario General sobre la violencia en curso en Nicaragua

El Secretario General está profundamente preocupado por los continuos actos de violencia en Nicaragua y su intensificación. El Secretario General deplora la pérdida de vidas en las protestas y el ataque contra mediadores de la Iglesia Católica en el Diálogo Nacional. 

El Secretario General reconoce el importante papel de mediación de la Conferencia Episcopal Nicaragüense e insta a todas las partes a respetar el papel de los mediadores, abstenerse del uso de la violencia y comprometerse plenamente a participar en el Diálogo Nacional para desescalar la violencia y encontrar una solución pacífica a la crisis actual.
