The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, President of the Government of Spain.
The Secretary-General and the President of the Government discussed the war in Ukraine, as well as the situations in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Western Sahara.
The Secretary-General briefed the President of the Government on the United Nations’ ongoing efforts to extend, expand and improve the Black Sea Initiative, as well as to remove remaining obstacles to the exports of Russian food products and fertilizers.
The Secretary-General and the President of the Government also discussed current challenges to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Secretary-General further briefed the President of the Government on UN initiatives related to the reforms of the international financial architecture.
He expressed his appreciation for Spain’s active support to the United Nations and multilateralism.

El Secretario General se reunió con el Excelentísimo Señor Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, Presidente del Gobierno de España.
El Secretario General y el Presidente de Gobierno abordaron la situación en Ucrania, así como las situaciones en el Medio Oriente, Afganistán y el Sáhara Occidental.
El Secretario General informó al Presidente del Gobierno sobre los esfuerzos en curso de las Naciones Unidas para extender, expandir y mejorar la Iniciativa del Mar Negro, así como para eliminar los obstáculos restantes a las exportaciones de productos alimenticios y fertilizantes rusos.
El Secretario General y el Presidente del Gobierno también discutieron los retos actuales para lograr los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible.
El Secretario General informó además al Presidente del Gobierno sobre las iniciativas de la ONU relacionadas con las reformas de la arquitectura financiera internacional.
También agradeció el apoyo activo de España a las Naciones Unidas y al multilateralismo.
