The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Chandrikapersad Santokhi, President of Suriname. The Secretary-General commended Suriname on its efforts to protect the environment, notably the country’s forests. The Secretary-General offered United Nations support for initiatives on environmental matters in Suriname. The Secretary-General and President Santokhi also discussed the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the COVID-19 response and recovery.
