The Secretary-General met today in Apia, Samoa, with H.E. Mr. Zhang Yesui, Special Envoy of the President of China to the ongoing Conference on Small Island Developing States.

The Secretary-General commended China’s support to sustainable development projects in Small Island Developing States and its leadership in South-South cooperation.

The Secretary-General and Mr. Zhang also discussed climate change issues, including the Climate Summit to be held in New York on 23 September and the financing of the Green Climate Fund.
