The Secretary-General met today with Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on National Security and Foreign Affairs. They discussed regional matters, including developments in Afghanistan and the role of the UN and Pakistan in promoting peace and stability there.

The Secretary-General expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s contributions to UN Peacekeeping Operations.

The Secretary-General and the Adviser also discussed the security situation in Pakistan and Pakistan’s contribution to disarmament efforts such as the Arms Trade Treaty. They also exchanged views on the Millennium Development Goals and sustainable development.
