Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd

The Secretary-General met today with the Australian Foreign Minister, H.E. Kevin Rudd, at the Minister's home in Canberra.

 

 

 

 

 

The Secretary-General said he was glad to see the Minister was recovering well from his recent heart surgery.

 

 

 

 

 

The Secretary-General and the Minister discussed the famine and humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa as well as developments in Libya and Syria.

 

 

 

 

 

They also discussed the work of the Secretary-General's Global Sustainability Panel, of which the Minister is a member, and forthcoming high-level meetings on nuclear safety and security and women's and children's health during the General Assembly session in New York.
