The Secretary-General met with the Vice-President of Botswana, Lieutenant General Mompati Merafhe, today.

The Secretary-General and the Vice-President discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the United Nations and the Southern African Development Community. They also discussed other regional matters, including the situation in Zimbabwe and Lesotho.

They also agreed that the true test of the timely summit on MDGs would be the conversion of the verbal commitments of Member States into real action on the ground.
