The Secretary-General met today, 25 September, with H.E. Mr. Franco Frattini, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy.

The Secretary-General and the Minister discussed the situation in Somalia.

The Secretary-General also thanked Italy for its important contribution to peacekeeping in general, and to UNIFIL specifically.

The Secretary-General and the Minister underscored the importance of the High-level Meeting on Sudan and on revitalizing the Conference on Disarmament, respectively.
