Q: May we ask you why this is important for you?

SG: There is a philosophical and political debate going on, and it is also an issue of human rights as I indicated. The declaration is very clear –that we should respect the rights and freedoms of people in that declaration, and there's no distinction. Obviously there are many views and there are certain sensitivities which one will have to respect but I think the individual's rights must be respected, and there is a tendency to discriminate, to persecute, and I think it's a tendency we should move away from, and be much more tolerant and much more compassionate.
