In response to questions on the recent court decision involving Côte d’Ivoire, the Spokesman has the following to say:
The Secretary-General takes note of the April 15 court decision sentencing Amadé Ouérémi to life in prison for his role in the massacre committed in Douékoué, in the aftermath of Côte d'Ivoire’s 2010/11 post-electoral crisis. He hopes that this judgement marks the beginning of a process to bring all perpetrators of this horrific crime to justice.
The Secretary-General calls on all Ivorian stakeholders to continue their efforts to advance national reconciliation and promote social cohesion.
