Hudaydah, Yemen- 8 November 2019: The recent establishment of five Observation Posts along the Hudaydah city frontlines has led to a significant reduction in violence on the ground. The Head of UNMHA and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Abhijit Guha, commends the commitment of the parties to the work of the Ceasefire Enhancement and De-escalation Mechanism, which was established in September onboard the UNMHA vessel.
However, the past days have witnessed reports of incidents involving the construction of new fortifications, movement of forces, and use of drones – all of which are in contravention of ceasefire agreements between the two parties.
As the situation in Hudaydah remains volatile, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Guha urges the two Yemeni parties to continue working jointly and in good faith through the Ceasefire Enhancement and De-escalation Mechanism to deal with incidents of escalation in violence in Hudaydah. He reiterates UNMHA’s commitment to support the work of the parties through this Mechanism.
Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Abhijit Guha reiterates his call on the parties to desist from any action in contravention to the Stockholm Agreement.

الحُديـــــــدة، اليمن – 8 نوفمبر 2019: لقد أسهم تدشين خمس نقاط مراقبة على خطوط القتال الأمامية في مدينة الحديدة مؤخرا في تحقيق انخفاض ملحوظ في مستوى العنف على الأرض. وإن رئيس بعثة الأمم المتحدة لدعم اتفاق الحديدة ورئيس لجنة تنسيق إعادة الانتشار الفريـق (المتقاعد) أبهيجيت غوهـــا يُثني على التزام الطرفين بالعمل عبر آلية التهدئة وتعزيز وقف إطلاق النار، والتي بدأت عملها في سبتمبر على ظهر سفينة بعثة الأمم المتحدة لدعم اتفاق الحديدة.
ومع ذلك، وردت خلال الأيام الماضية تقارير حول حوادث تتضمن تحصينات جديدة، وتحريك قوات، واستخدام طائرات مُسيرة—جميعها تتنافى مع الاتفاقات بين الطرفين بشأن وقف إطلاق النار.
وفي ظل هشاشة الوضع في الحديدة، يحث الفريق غوها الطرفين في اليمن على استمرار انخراطهما في العمل بشكل مُشترك وبروح النية الحسنة، من خلال آلية التهدئة وتعزيز وقف إطلاق النار للتعامل مع الحوادث التي قد تُشكل تصعيدا للعنف في الحديدة. كما يؤكد على التزام بعثة الأمم المتحدة لدعم اتفاق الحديدة المستمر في دعم عمل الطرفين من خلال الآلية.
ويكرر الفريق غوها نداءه للأطراف بالكف عن أي أفعال تتناقض مع اتفاق استوكهولم.
