The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq. They discussed the political situation in Iraq and the region.  
 
The Secretary-General welcomed the Prime Minister’s efforts to overcome the current political crisis through national dialogue.  
 
The Secretary-General commended the Iraqi Government’s efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.  
 
The Secretary-General offered support to Iraq’s efforts to address environmental issues.
