Peter Stone
Peter Stone is a Senior Adviser and Deputy Team Leader of the Reform, Legal and Budget team in the Office of the President of the General Assembly, focusing on the General Assembly, elections and revitalization. He also serves as the Western European and Other Group (WEOG) liaison.
Prior to joining the Office, Peter was a Senior Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations. During 15 years at the Mission, he was a delegate to the Second, Third and Fifth Committees, and was a member of Australia’s team on the UN Security Council in 2013-2014.
In recent years, he worked on counter-terrorism and General Assembly issues. As Elections Officer, Peter coordinated Australia’s candidacies in New York, including successful election to the UN Security Council, Human Rights Council, International Court of Justice and numerous human rights treaty bodies.
Peter holds Bachelor degrees in Science and Engineering (Hons) from the University of Sydney, and a Masters in Professional Ethics from the University of New South Wales. Before joining the Australian Mission to the United Nations, Peter worked for the Australian Red Cross.
