Orla Murphy
Orla Murphy serves as a Speechwriter to the President of the 75th session of the General Assembly.
Orla was also a member of the Office of the President of the 74th session of the General Assembly, where she held the position of Speechwriter and Adviser with responsibility for gender issues, including Beijing+25.
Prior to this, Orla was an Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations working on Education, UN Funds and Programmes, Sustainable Development, and the Commission on the Status of Women. Previously, Orla has also held the positions of Policy and Programme Officer at UNAIDS’ US Liaison Office, Advocacy Officer at UNICEF Ireland, and International Humanitarian Law Advocacy Officer at the Irish Red Cross.
Orla was Ireland’s first Youth Delegate to the United Nations, and a United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Fellow.
She holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in English and Politics, a postgraduate Bachelor of Laws, and a Master’s in International Public Policy and Diplomacy from University College Cork.
