Ceren Özgür
Ceren Özgür is the Senior Political Advisor to the President of the General Assembly.
Prior to this appointment, she was the Head of the United Nations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
From 2014 to 2018, she served as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the UN. During this period, she served as a Delegate to the Economic and Financial Committee in the 69th and 70th sessions of the General Assembly, Vice-Chair of the Special Political and Decolonization Committee in the 72nd session of the General Assembly and Vice-Chair of the Economic and Social Council’s Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations in 2017 and 2018.
From 2012 to 2014, she was the Head of Section at the Directorate-General for International Political Institutions at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, covering the United Nations.
Since the beginning of her career in the Turkish Foreign Service in 2005, she has also worked at the Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels, Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi and Directorate-General for Security Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She holds a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
