The President of the General Assembly met with Ms. Sigrid Kaag, Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza pursuant to Security Council Resolution 2720 (2023).
The President of the General Assembly and Ms. Kaag discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and Ms. Kaag’s work to establish a United Nations mechanism to accelerate humanitarian relief consignments to Gaza. He commended Ms. Kaag’s engagements with regional countries to increase the number of land crossings into the Gaza Strip. The President of the General Assembly reiterated his unwavering support for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and a two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
