Hila Wesa
Hila Wesa is an international affairs professional with extensive experience in diplomacy and the provision of legal and political advice from the public and private sectors. She oversees matters pertaining to human rights, humanitarian, and cultural issues, including the Third Committee, as well as country-specific situations in the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA).
Hila joined OPGA from the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, where she was working on Middle East affairs. Her professional experience prior to joining the United Nations includes serving as Senior Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and practicing as an attorney with a multinational law firm in Canada.
Hila holds a Master of Laws from Columbia University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia. A dual national of Afghanistan and Canada, she is fluent in English, Farsi (Dari), and Pashto.
