President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, had a coordination meeting with H.E. Mr. Samuel Žbogar, Slovenia’s Representative to the Security Council and the President of the Security Council for the month of September 2024.
Ambassador Žbogar briefed the President on the programme of work of the Security Council during Slovenia’s Presidency, highlighting Slovenia’s two signature events that aim to reflect on UN peacekeeping operations and the ability for the Security Council to fulfil its mandate.
President of the General Assembly commended Slovenia for the topics for its signature open debates. He emphasized that the United Nations needs a Security Council that is strong, agile, efficient, and functional.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on 22 August 2024.
