The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, met on Monday, 15 July 2024, with H.E. Ms. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda.

The President of the General Assembly and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda discussed the focus of Uganda’s voluntary national review (VNR) of their implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to be presented during the high-level political forum (HLPF) meeting under the auspices of ECOSOC this year.

They further exchanged views on Uganda’s effort to build critical infrastructure, develop human capital, as well as generate inclusive growth. Furthermore, they discussed current development challenges from resource management to climate finance, as well as the importance of mobilizing financing for development.

President of the General Assembly appreciated the Prime Minister’s active role in rallying political will across the international community to advance development issues and further commended Uganda’s commitment towards the work of the United Nations.
