President of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, to speak at Newsmaker event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
New York, 3 May 2024 – The President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, will undertake official travel to Washington, D.C. at the invitation of the National Press Club.
The PGA will feature as the Headliner speaker at the Newsmaker event which will take place on 6 May 2024 at 10 a.m., in the National Press Club’s First Amendment Lounge.
The PGA will kickstart the event by delivering opening remarks, followed by interactive session with journalists moderated by the President of the National Press Club and CNBC Washington Correspondent, Ms. Emily Wilkins.
The conversation will be livestreamed on the NPC’s digital channels. The PGA’s social media platforms will also disseminate the live link and post recorded footage of the event once it concludes.
The PGA will use the opportunity of this engagement to address the UN’s role in responding to today’s geopolitical challenges, highlighting the importance of UN-led multilateral system, as well as topics related to peace and security; and the upcoming Summit of the Future in September.
Previous speakers at the National Press Club have included Heads of State and Government, as well as international leaders and personalities, including Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Martin Luther King Jr., Elizabeth Taylor, Muhammad Ali, among others.
The President’s delegation includes his Chef de Cabinet, a Media Relations Adviser, and a Public Information Assistant.
Travel costs to Washington D.C. are covered by the OPGA’s Trust Fund.
