Mohammed Al-Buainain is an Adviser in the Sustainable Development Goals’ Team in the Office of the President of the 71st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Mohammed is a career diplomat who joined the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2014. Serving as a Third Secretary, Mohammed has worked in the Department of International Organizations, in which he managed a range of files related to climate change, sustainable development agenda, and UN Peacekeeping. He also has covered issues in regards to the situation in the Middle East. In his diplomatic career, Mohammed has participated in many important multilateral conferences and negotiations, especially those related to climate change.

Previously, Mohammed has worked in ELAN Group in Qatar as Public Relation Manager, specializing in event management, corporate social responsibility and social media.

Mohammed has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Politics from Oxford Brookes University.

He is fluent in Arabic and English, and speaks some French.
