Mr. Mateus Pedro Luemba joined the Department of Multilateral Affairs of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999, where he was in charge of the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lake Regions. He subsequently assumed the role of Expert on regional integration policies, bilateral and multilateral agreements, including the Africa-China and the Africa-Turkey Cooperation Forums, as well as the Permanent Joint Commission for Defense and Security between Angola-Zambia and between Angola-Namibia. He joined the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations in 2007 as First Secretary for Economic, Financial and Sustainable Development Affairs. In this capacity, he led the Angolan team of negotiators at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), and in the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the Universidade Lusíada de Angola (Angola) and a Certificate in Environmental Negotiations and Climate Change Diplomacy from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (USA). Mr. Mateus Pedro Luemba is a national of Angola.
