This FAQ pertains to the following events convened by the President of the General assembly.

  • High-Level Thematic Debate on Advancing Gender equality and empowerment of Women in the Post-2015 development agenda (6 March 2015)
  • High-Level Thematic Debate on Promoting Tolerance and Reconciliation (6 April 2015)
  • High-Level Thematic Debate on Strengthening Cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organizations (15 May 2015)
  • High-Level Event on Climate Change (29 June 2015)

Q: If I have a UN grounds pass, do I have to register or get a special pass to attend?
A: If you hold a valid UN grounds pass, you do not need to register or to request a pass. Your valid UN grounds pass will enable you to enter any of the events, space permitting.

Q: If I do not hold a valid UN grounds pass, can I obtain a special event ticket to attend?
A: Representatives invited to participate as panellists or discussants will receive a letter of invitation from the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA). Representatives of civil society organizations interested in attending as observers and who do not hold a valid UN grounds pass may indicate interest in attending an event by contacting the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Office (UN-NGLS).

Q: Will the events be webcast?
A: Yes, at the time of the events, they will be webcast live here: UN Web TV Videos of the webcast will also be available after the event in the UN Web TV archive.

Q: How will panelists and discussants be selected?
A: Civil society panelists and discussants for the events and debates will be chosen through a nomination and self-selection process administered by UN-NGLS. The shortlist will be submitted to the OPGA for final selection. Such selection will be the sole responsibility of the PGA, based on the objectives of the respective activities.

Q: Will there be funding available for travel?
A: The OPGA will not be able to provide funds for travel.

Q: Will the OPGA provide letters of invitation to secure a visa for participants?
A: The OPGA will not be able to provide letters of invitation to secure a visa participants.

Q: How will the inputs of civil society and other relevant stakeholders influence the outcomes of the High-level Event and Thematic Debates of the President of the General Assembly?
A: The inputs of civil society and other relevant stakeholders will be taken into account in the preparation of the background notes being prepared for the high-level event and thematic debates.
