What we do

The Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) is an entity within the secretariat of the UN and was established in 2003. It is unique in that it is dedicated specifically to the Africa region and focuses on Africa’s priorities and international support to Africa’s development.

OSAA’s core functions are advisory, advocacy, coordination and monitoring.  The Office works with all parts of the UN system in an effort to ensure coherence in the critical work of the UN on the inter-related issues of peace, security and development in Africa.
