Africa Day at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

Organized since 2018 at the request of African Member States, the annual Africa Day at the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development is a ministerial-level event that provides an informal and interactive platform for African Member States and their development partners to share best practices and lessons learned. Building on the outcomes of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD), another annual event that precedes it on the calendar, Africa Day at the HLPF is an opportunity to expand on the outcomes of the ARFSD and solicit practical and implementable recommendations to advance policy options, notably on innovative financing and partnerships adopted at the Regional Forum.

Africa Day at the HLPF is co-organized by the UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA), the African Union Commission (AUC), the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP). Taking place on the sidelines of the HLPF, it is open to all participants, including high-level government officials from all UN Member States and representatives from African regional institutions, the UN system, bilateral and multilateral partners, representatives from women and youth groups, civil society, the private sector, academia and the media.
