Ms. Federica Mogherini was appointed as Co-chair of the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement in December 2019. Previously, she served as High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, and Vice President of the European Commission from 2014 to 2019. Prior to joining the EU,  Ms. Mogherini was Italy's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, following her terms in parliament (2008 to 2014) as the Head of the Italian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and Vice-President of its Political Committee (2013-14); member of the Italian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (2008-13); Secretary of the Defence Committee (2008-13); and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Ms. Mogherini is presently the Rector of the College of Europe in Bruges.

Ms. Mogherini has a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and holds a honoris causa Doctorate from the University of Tampere, Finland. She has two daughters.
