As of 1 April, the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) has been established and is fully operational.

It successfully met the timeline set by Security Council resolution 2793 (2025), which mandated UNSOH to provide the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) with full logistical and operational support within six months of its adoption. The mandate for full mission support services to the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) by 1 February 2026 has also been achieved.

The establishment and rapid operationalization of UNSOH, despite the tight deadline and high‑risk security environment in Haiti, was made possible through extensive collaboration across and beyond the United Nations system.

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti is now positioned to deliver a comprehensive support package to the Gang Suppression Force, including living and office accommodations, medical services, rations, water, wastewater and solid waste management, power generation, fuel, ground mobility, aviation, ICT services, and security.

This sustainable logistical and operational support will be essential in enabling the Gang Suppression Force to carry out its mandate to conduct counter‑gang operations in cooperation with the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces.

On 19 March, Daniela Kroslak was appointed Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Office in Haiti.

Ms. Kroslak joined the mission and officially assumed her functions in Port‑au‑Prince on 1 April, the same day the first contingent of Gang Suppression Force personnel from Chad arrived. More will be deployed in the coming weeks to join Salvadoran and Guatemalan personnel already on the ground.

Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, travelled to the Dominican Republic and Haiti from 29 March to 2 April to mark this milestone and engage with national authorities who reaffirmed their strong support for UNSOH.

The Department of Operational Support extends its gratitude to entities across the Secretariat for their unwavering collaboration in establishing UNSOH and for helping the United Nations contribute to a lasting positive legacy in Haiti.
