News

According to a new UNCTAD study, between the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and mid-2021, commodity prices increased across the Latin American and Caribbean region with varied impacts on countries, leading UNCTAD to urge that these economies work to boost resilience to shocks. Entrepreneurship can mean more freedom for women says Pierangela Sierra, our Latin-American advocate of eTrade for All, an UNCTAD initiative to expand and promote the digital economy, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Read more on her views in English and Español.

Then, UNCTAD and IATA extended our partnership to facilitate global trade this week. We will leverage leadership in our respective fields to boost e-commerce in developing countries through improved exchanges of trade data. Find out more here.

As the world marked International Youth Day 2021 on 12 August, UNCTAD emphasized how it is helping young people globally make their mark in sustainable development. So we looked at how our Youth Action Hub Curitiba, part of the UNCTAD Youth Network, harnesses the potential of Brazilian youth to help accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Also read about Pakistani youth using e-health to change rural lives.
