INTER-REGIONAL PREPARATORY
MEETING FOR THE REVIEW OF IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BARBADOS PROGRAMME OF ACTION:
26 January - 30 January 2004. Nassau, Bahamas. This meeting will be held after
the three regional meetings: The Pacific SIDS meeting held in Apia, Samoa,
from 4-8 August 2003, the Caribbean SIDS meeting held in Port of Spain,
Trinidad and Tobago, from 18-22 August 2003, and the AIMS SIDS meeting held in
Praia, Cape Verde, from 1-5 September 2003. This meeting is to assist in the
preparations for the international meeting to be held in Mauritius in August/September
2004.

INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON PARTNERSHIPS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: 4 March - 6
March 2004. FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy. This Forum is organized by the United
Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA) in conjunction with
the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Territory. The purpose of the forum
is to enhance the contribution of partnerships towards the implementation of
sustainable development goals and objectives. The outcomes from the Forum will
be presented at CSD-12.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM: 7 July - 9 July 2004. Segovia,
Spain. The Conference is sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Regional
Government of Castilla y Leon and organized by the Wessex Institute of
Technology, the Inter-University Department of Ecology of Madrid ( involving the
Universities Complutense, Autónoma and Alcalá) and EUROPARC España. The
Conference will adopt a multifaceted approach to the issue of sustainable
tourism by exploring issues dealing with achieving environmental, social and
economic sustainability of tourism as well as the governance mechanisms which
are necessary to support sustainable tourism. The conference’s goal is to
provide better approaches to tourism with the objective of preserving the
diversity of the planet.
