UN Staff Officers Training of Trainers’ Course in China’s Peacekeeping Center

The Integrated Training Service of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Field Support conducted the United Nations Staff Officer Training of Trainers Course for Francophone Countries from 22 May to 1 June 2018.

The two-week course was held at the Peacekeeping Centre under Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China, located in Beijing. The programme was intended to familiarize the peacekeeping trainers from Member States and staff officers essentially from francophone partner countries with the newly released Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials and Specialized Training Materials (STM) for Staff Officers (SO).

Thirty-one participants representing sixteen Member States, including three female officers were in attendance. The course included training guidance, participant presentations, plenary sessions, group learning activities and an end of course scenario-based exercise. The content of the course has brought updated knowledge and materials for trainers.

The participants were very pleased with the training outcomes and expressed highly appreciation to the training team. The new materials of STM Staff Officers were highly appreciated by participants involved with SO training. Feedback has also been gathered to further improve the training materials.

The Staff Officers Training of Trainers Course is supported by the United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund.
