On 12-13 June 2018, the Secretary-General held a high-level interactive dialogue with heads of twenty regional and other organizations at the Greentree Estate in New York. The high-level event served as an informal forum for frank, open and productive exchanges on key strategic issues in the realm of peace and security, under the overall theme of prevention. The United Nations and participating organizations also explored opportunities to further strengthen their collaboration in addressing the complex challenges related to international peace and security.

Senior-level representatives participated from the African Union, the Caribbean Community, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Economic Community of Central African States, the Economic Community of West African States, the European Union, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Ibero-American General Secretariat, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, the International Organization of la Francophonie, the League of Arab States, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Organization of American States, the Pacific Islands Forum, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Southern African Development Community.

The high-level interactive dialogue is sponsored by the Peace and Security Sub-Fund under the United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund.
