Description
Pacific Small Island Developing States face accelerating climate risk, economic shocks, and coordination gaps.
This project enhances climate risk preparedness and governance in the Pacific SIDS by embedding strategic foresight and systems thinking into government planning and disaster management. Led by UN DESA, it provides tailored training, supports the creation of foresight units, and fosters regional peer learning. A Pacific SIDS Foresight Platform will facilitate horizon scanning and policy development, aiming to establish three operational foresight units by 2028. The initiative advances SDGs 13, 16, and 17 and supports small island nations in building resilient, coherent, and risk-informed governance systems.
