Synopsis

Objectives

To assist current and emerging police-contributing countries (PCCs) in pre-selection, preparedness, and assessment of police individuals and units based on the UN requirements for deployment to peace operations, with a focus on Africa, Latin America, and South and Central Asia.

Components

Main components of the project include activities relating to: (i) capacity building and training of current and emerging PCCs, by identifying gaps in pre-selection training and operational readiness of police candidates and addressing those gaps through workshops, concrete recommendations and implementable action items, and building regional partnerships; and (ii) operational support and readiness through assistance and assessment visits, technical support and targeted briefings and training courses in line with the United Nations rules and standard operation procedures.
