Enhancing sustainable capacity to prevent and counter terrorism in African Member States through technological innovation and integration of autonomous and remotely operated systems (AROS)
Synopsis
Objectives
This project aims to enhance the institutional and operational capacities of selected African Member States to integrate remotely operated systems such as UAS and UUS into their national counter-terrorism strategies, in support of key functions including incident management, critical infrastructure protection, territorial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and search and rescue operations; as well as to help prevent and counter the misuse of these technologies by terrorist actors.
Components
Following the selection of beneficiary African Member States, the project conducts technical scoping missions to assess needs, challenges, gaps, and priorities for countering threats posed by remotely operated systems. It also supports national consultations on the development of UAS Threat Roadmaps in the selected Member States. In addition, the project delivers a series of specialized courses on UAS for officials and operators and Training of Trainers courses for the top performing certified operators, and supports the acquisition of UAS, UUS, countermeasures, and other related equipment.
