Advancing Our Common Agenda and following up on the Summit of the Future
Synopsis
Objectives
The project aims to advance the Secretary-General’s vision on the future of multilateralism through implementation and advocacy on the Pact for the Future.
Components
The project provides strategic support to senior UN leadership in decision-making, coordination, management, reporting, and delivery of commitments made at the Summit of the Future. It launches a United Nations System-wide effort to implement mandates arising from the Pact for the Future, establishes mechanisms to track progress on its commitments, and develops a global political outreach and public communication plan to amplify the Summit’s outcomes and the vision of “Our Common Agenda”. The project also engages with and supports Member States and other partners in advancing “Our Common Agenda” proposals and implementing key solutions from the Pact to reinvigorate multilateralism.
Main achievements
The project supported two Secretary-General-led Steering Committee meetings (February and May) and over 40 task force meetings, ensuring United Nations System coherence on Pact for the Future implementation. A real-time tracking tool supported by the project monitors all Pact commitments, guiding senior leadership and workplans ahead of the UNGA83 review.
The project provided policy support enabling the rollout of the Fourth Conference on Financing for Development. One global webinar and 10 targeted briefings supported alignment across UN Country Teams and Regional Commissions. Civil society engagement expanded through four senior and multiple working-level meetings, regional forums, and platforms such as Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS).
In addition, the project facilitated over 20 high-level briefings by the Secretary General to Member States and supported USG Ryder’s visit to China in March 2025, which included an MFA-led symposium, Chinese state media engagement, and participation in the Boao Forum for Asia.
Impact
This project capitalizes on the outcomes of the Summit of the Future and implements the Pact for the Future and ensures the Pact for the Future remains a dynamic and results-driven framework.
