The Sixth Steering Committee Meeting

Steering Committee of the Peace and Development Trust Fund met to review the performance of the Fund

Several dozen people gathered for a conference

On 11 Ocotber 2021, the Steering Committee of the United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund (UNPDF) met to review the performance of the Fund, which has provided resources to 95 projects to help advance international peace and security and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The committee underscored the importance of multilateralism and continued engagement with partners to support cross-pillar efforts in the UN system.

The committee members commended the achievements of the UN Peace and Development Trust Fund, and the adaptability, innovation, and continued delivery of projects to respond to the ongoing effects of the pandemic.

The Steering Committee stressed the continued need for projects to be intrinsically linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.

They endorsed 17 new forward-looking projects to strengthen the United Nations peace and security pillar and advance the 2030 Agenda amid the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, Chef de Cabinet and Chair of the Steering Committee, hosted the session.

The UN Peace and Development Trust Fund was established in 2016, following an initial $200 million, ten-year pledge by the Government of the People's Republic of China which intends to extend the duration of the Trust Fund through 2030.

The UN Peace and Development Trust Fund contributes to an enhanced multilateral and transformative recovery. This was their sixth meeting.
