Dr Yensi Flores Bueso is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at University College Cork and University of Washington. Her research integrates synthetic biology and AI-driven protein design to create new proteins with applications in health and sustainability.

She works at the interface of science and policy to promote open, inclusive, and responsible research systems. She serves as  Co-Chair of the Global Young Academy  (2024–2026), representing early-career researchers on the  UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Independent Group of Scientists preparing the  2027 Global Sustainable Development Report  and of the  Steering Group  of the International Science Council Forum on Publishing and Research Assessment.

Her recent work includes co-leading the first global study on  academic promotion and research assessment  and contributing to discussions on open science and responsible research assessment at forums such as the  World Science Forum  and the  UN Open Science Conference.
