Reaching consensus on structure for environment statistics

Second Meeting of the Expert Group on the Revision of the Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics (FDES) will be held in New York on 4-6 May

The main objective of the second meeting of the Expert Group is to discuss and reach agreement on the fundamental structure and main building blocks of the revised FDES based on the analysis of relevant key concepts, scientific, policy and statistical frameworks. The meeting is expected to agree on the contents and detailed annotated outline of the revised FDES handbook. The experts will also discuss the criteria and process for the selection of a core set of environment statistics. The revised FDES is expected to be presented to the 43rd session of the Statistical Commission in February 2012.
