H.E. Ambassador Syed Mohamad Hasrin Aidid

 

Mr. Syed Mohamad Hasrin Aidid is a career diplomat and joined the Malaysian Administrative Diplomatic Service in June 1994.

He had served overseas as Second Secretary and Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations, Consul General of Malaysia in Dubai and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta.

At the Ministry, he had served in the Multilateral Affairs Department, Policy Planning Division and South East Asia Division. He had also served as the Special Officer to the Secretary General and Special Officer to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He holds a Master Degree in Public Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Arizona, USA.

On 7 July 2017, he presented his Letter of Credence as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the United Arab Emirates.

He is married to Sarah Nava Rani AlBakri Devadason and is blessed with five sons.

In 2019 Ambassador Syed Mohamad Hasrin Aidid chaired the third session of the Preparatory Committee or the 2020 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference.

Adam Bugajski is Security Policy Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland. He has the overall responsibility for the Polish security policy, including Poland’s disarmament and non-proliferation policy.

Prior to the current assignment, Adam Bugajski was the Permanent Representative of Poland to the UN Office and the International Organisations in Vienna (2015-2019). In that position, he assured Polish direct participation in a number of international organisations in Vienna, including: the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation, and others. His previous posts also included Security Policy Director and Deputy Director of the Department of Strategy and Foreign Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland as well as Deputy Permanent Representative of Poland to NATO.

During the 2015 NPT Review Conference in New York, Mr. Bugajski served as Vice-President of the Conference. In 2018 Ambassador Adam Bugajski chaired the second session of the Preparatory Committee of the 2020 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference.

Adam Bugajski was born in 1974, in Gdańsk, Poland. He holds MA from Gdańsk University. He also graduated from the National School of Public Administration in Warsaw. Ambassador Bugajski is married and has three children.

H.E. Ambassador Henk Cor van der Kwast

 

Ambassador Henk Cor van der Kwast is the Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the International Criminal Court.

Prior to this current role, Henk Cor van der Kwast served in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands including: Policy advisor at the Western Hemisphere Department (1987-1989); Secretary of Embassy and Deputy Chief at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Abidjan, Ivory Coast (1989-1992); Member of the Taskforce for the Preparatory Committee of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (1993); Senior policy advisor of the International Organisation Department, Legal and Social Affairs (1993-1996); Senior policy maker in the European Commission and Counsellor for Democratisation programmes with OSCE and UN programmes in Brussels (1996-1999); Counsellor for political affairs at the Netherlands Permanent Representation to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva (1999-2003); Deputy Head of Political Department Western Europe / Section Head Southern Europe at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Netherlands Commissioner for the Benelux (2003-2006); Head of Non-Proliferation, Disarmament, Arms Control and Export Control Policy Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the non-proliferation working group of the European Nuclear Energy Platform (2006-2011); Deputy Head of Mission/Head of Economic and Political Department at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok, Thailand (2011-2013); Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the Conference on Disarmament and Disarmament Ambassador at large (2013-2017) also charged with the functions of Chair of the Conference on Disarmament (2015), EU Presidency Disarmament (January – June 2016), Chair Convention on certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) Protocol V, Chair Convention on Cluster munition States Parties Conference 2016; and Ambassador of of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Slovakia (2017-2021).

In 2017 Ambassador van der Kwast chaired the first session of the Preparatory Committee for the Tenth Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (2017).

Ambassador van der Kwast also holds the French award “Chevalier dans l’Órdre de Mérite” for his contribution to Franco-Dutch cooperation.

Ambassador Henk Cor van der Kwast is a graduate of Groningen University (1985) and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy (1986). He fluently speaks English, French and German.
