The Population Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) organized an expert group meeting on completing the fertility transition. The meeting took place at the United Nations in New York from 11 to 14 March 2002.
Over the past years, issues of international migration have gained prominence in the international agenda. Recognizing the need to review and coordinate the growing information on international migration among interested organizations, the Population Division of the United Nations Secretariat held a Coordination Meeting on International Migration on 11-12 July 2002, at United Nations Headquarters, in New York City.
