Synopsis: 

The Handmaid's Tale is an Emmy award winning dystopian TV series based on a 1985 book by Margaret Atwood .The story takes place in Gilead, a totalitarian society that has overthrown the United States and treats women as property of the state. In response to an environmental disaster and unprecedented low reproductive rates, women are disempowered and forced into sexual servitude. The novel explores themes of subjugated women in a patriarchal society and the various means in which they resist and attempt to gain independence
