The Secretary-General met yesterday with H.E. Mr. Xie Zhenghua, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, on the margins of the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

The Secretary-General commended China's tremendous leadership on climate. He welcomed the recent joint announcement with the United States on emissions reduction targets, noting the significant and positive impact it has had on climate negotiations as we head towards Paris in 2015.

He also lauded China for establishing the South-South Cooperation Fund on Climate Change, offering his support for the initiative.
