Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Ms. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway.

The Secretary-General thanked the Prime Minister for Norway’s important engagement in the efforts to combat climate change. In this respect, he welcomed the recent announcement made by the Government of Norway on climate change financing.

During the meeting, they discussed the state of play in the Middle East peace process and the need to ensure that there was focus on the reconstruction of Gaza, as well as finding a comprehensive, just and lasting two-state solution. 

The Secretary-General and Prime Minister Solberg exchanged views on accelerating the Millennium Development Goals and on the post-2015 development agenda.  They also discussed issues related to education as well as the protection of women and girls in conflict areas.
