Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Secretary-General conveyed his condolences to the Prime Minister for the victims of the recent floods in Pakistan and his deep concern over the devastation caused by them. The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also discussed the political and security situation in Pakistan.

The Secretary-General expressed hope that Pakistan and Afghanistan would continue to improve their bilateral ties. The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also discussed the need for improved relations between Pakistan and India.
