Secretary-General Urges Guinea Citizens
To Ensure Peaceful, Credible Elections
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General welcomes the inter-Guinean dialogue leading to the holding of legislative elections tomorrow, 28 September. He congratulates the people of Guinea, its Government and political leaders for their commitment to a consensual and peaceful electoral process. He expresses appreciation for the efforts of the College of Facilitators, including his Special Representative for West Africa.
The Secretary-General urges all Guineans to do their utmost to ensure peaceful, transparent and credible elections.
