Regional Meetings
Chapter III of the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation
specifies that the 10-year framework of programmes on
sustainable consumption and production, is to support regional
and national initiatives. Accordingly, the Marrakech Process
acknowledged the importance of regional processes for
sustainable consumption and production and agreed that regional
meetings should be held in between global meetings in order to
identify regional priorities and concerns
In order to achieve the link between
international programmes and regional/national initiatives, a
consultative process has been developed in each region. This
effort aims at supporting each region in defining priorities and
immediate action areas in order to better focus the
international support.
