10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production:
The Marrakech  Process

Regional Meetings

Asia and Pacific

Three regional meetings have been held in Asia and the Pacific. The first regional meeting held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 21-23 May 2003, resulted in a chair's summary  and 26 recommendations for action to implement sustainable consumption and production measures. The meeting was organized by the government of Indonesia in cooperation with UNEP and DESA's  Division for Sustainable Development.

The second regional meeting was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea from 6-7 November 2003 and resulted in a report that includes a regional platform of action based on the recommendation of the Yogyakarta meeting. These recommendations were then presented for consideration to the November 2003 meeting of the ESCAP Committee on Managing Globalization. The ESCAP Committee endorsed the conclusions of the Seoul meeting and added the regional 10- year framework process to its medium term work plan.

The third regional meeting was held in Beijing, China from 23-25 June 2006. The meeting was organized by ESCAP and produced a summary of conclusions.
