High-level meetings of the 68th Session of the General Assembly
3-4 October 2013 - High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development: "Making Migration Work"
In 2013, the number of international migrants worldwide reached 232 million. Many migrants continue to face exploitation, discrimination and xenophobia, while their contributions to the host society go largely unrecognized. In the lead up to the UN High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development from 3-4 October, global citizens can participate online in the following ways:
- Beginning 26 September, share photos and videos tied to your personal stories about how migrants positively contribute to communities and economies worldwide. You can join the global conversation on Facebook and Twitter using #IAmAMigrant. From 3-4 October, your photos and stories will be featured on the UN’s Storify page and possibly shared with participants at the High-level Dialogue.
- Explore the many voices of migrants on the multimedia page.
- Follow the latest developments on the High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development with #HLD2013.
- Watch the UN High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development from 3-4 October live on UN webcast.
